Ten people injured, including two children, after an NYPD vehicle collided with a car and crashed into a Bronx sidewalk Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The collision occurred at about 3 p.m. EDT near the intersection of Hoe and Westchester Avenues, just over two miles east of Yankee Stadium, police said.
A total of 10 people were injured, NYPD patrol chief Jeffrey Maddrey told reporters. The oldest victim was 65 years old, the youngest on the sidewalk was 5 years old, and a 2-year-old was in the civilian vehicle that was hit, Maddrey said.
Two police officers were also among the injured, the FDNY said.
Two officers were in their flagged vehicle when it hit a civilian car and “as a result of the collision, the police vehicle climbed a curb and hit several pedestrians,” a statement from the NYPD said.
The severity of their injuries was not immediately known.
The officers responded to the theft when it was cut off from traffic, NBC New York reported.
