About 50 people were forced to leave a building on Monday evening after an electrical fire.

About 25 firefighters and four engines tackled the blaze at the residential block in Oak Square, Stockwell, at around 7pm.

Part of an electrical cable in the basement of the building was damaged by fire.

There were no injuries.

The fire was under control by 9pm.

Fire crews from Brixton, Lambeth and Peckham fire stations attended the scene.

The blaze is believed to have been caused by an electrical event.
