The person responsible for the physical look and feel of Apple’s iPhones, Macs and everything else will leave the company if Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman first reported. Vice President of Industrial Design Evans Hankey will be with Apple for just six more months. Hankey took over hardware design three years ago after longtime chief designer Jony Ive left the company to start his own design firm.

No replacement or next step for Hankey has been publicly announced. However, Bloomberg reports that her departure was announced internally this week, citing a statement from an Apple spokesperson: “The senior design team has strong leaders with decades of experience. Evans plans to stay on as we work through the transition, and we want to thank her for her leadership and contributions.”

Hankey and VP Human Interface Design Alan Dye have reported directly to Apple COO Jeff Williams since I left. The report cites anonymous sources who say Dye will remain with the company, noting that Gary Butcher, a former top designer in the human interface division, is returning to the company after a stint with Airbnb.
