BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — A Brooklyn bishop was robbed at gunpoint during a live stream of his sermon on Sunday morning, police said.
Bishop Lamor Whitehead was on stage at Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries when men in dark hooded outfits entered the room, according to a video obtained by ABC News station WABC.
Raw video from the live stream:
“When I saw them coming into the shelter with their guns, I said to everyone, ‘Go down,'” Whitehead said in a video on Instagram. “I didn’t know if they wanted to shoot my church or if they came for a robbery.”
The bishop said the men aimed it at him and his wife and took “hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry.” The men stole a “large sum of jewelry,” but the total value was not immediately available, New York police said.
Three “unidentified persons entered the location, robbed the victim and fled in a white Mercedes heading east on Avenue D,” police said.
An investigation is underway, police said.
