An employee of a New York McDonald’s is in critical condition after he was shot in the neck outside the fast-food restaurant Monday night after a dispute over food, police said.
The 23-year-old man was working at a McDonald’s location in Brooklyn when he became involved in a verbal altercation with a female customer about food around 7 p.m. ET, a New York City Police Department spokesman said.
The confrontation escalated into a physical altercation when the woman’s 20-year-old son became involved and the altercation broke out on the street outside the fast food chain, police said.
The 20-year-old allegedly shot the McDonald’s employee in the neck.
The victim was taken to nearby Brookdale Hospital, where he was still in critical condition early Tuesday morning.
The 20-year-old was taken into police custody while charges are still pending, the NYPD said.
Police identified neither the victim nor the suspect.
They said the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
