Since the premiere of the first season of Netflix’s Sweet Tooth in June 2021, fans have been eagerly awaiting Sweet Tooth season 2. The fantasy drama series created by Jim Mickle is based on Jeff Lemire’s dystopian comic books of the same name. Sweet Tooth is set in a dark post-apocalyptic world that is being destroyed by a mysterious virus called H5G9.
The series follows a young hybrid (part human part dear) named Gus, played by Christian Convery. After living in seclusion for years, Gus sets out on a journey to find a woman named Birdie, who may be his mother. Along the way, on his journey, Gus meets two friends, Bear and Big Man, who accompany him.
The series set up a compelling storyline full of unexpected twists. The post-apocalyptic world ravaged by disease, danger and chaos seems bleak but realistic. The show’s first season was critically acclaimed and made fans fall in love with the little human deer hybrid, paving the way for the Sweet Tooth season 2 renewal.
Sweet Tooth Season 2: Has It Been Canceled?
All eight episodes of the first season of Sweet Tooth premiered on Netflix on June 4, 2021. And based on the response from fans to the first season, the return of the show for Sweeth Tooth season 2 seemed inevitable. Later, the streaming service announced the continuation of the series for a second season on July 1, 2021. At the moment, the makers have not announced the official release date for Sweet Tooth season 2. Sweeth Tooth Season 2: Now What?
The first season of the Netflix fantasy Sweet Tooth drama introduced us to a dystopian world ravaged by a deadly disease. Creepy hybrid animal-human creatures appeared in the world just around the time the disease started. Not sure whether these hybrids were the cause or the result of the mysterious virus called H5G9, people began to prey on these creatures.
Sweet Tooth season one follows Gus, a young human-deer hybrid, and his adventurous quest for Birdie, who he believes could be his mother, along with his friend Big Man & Bear. However, towards the end of the season, things take an unexpectedly dark turn. And Gus discovered that it was the result of a genetic experiment and made in a lab. Unfortunately, his alleged parents, Birdie and Pubba, were actually the workers in the lab.
At the end of season one, Gus is captured by men and they take him to Dr. Singh, who is working on a cure for the virus. However, upon hearing Gus speak, Dr. Singh did not cut him to pieces. The Last Men locked up Gus, where he sees other human-animal hybrids just like himself, bringing a sense of hope to the finale.
The second season will likely continue after the cliffhanger of season one. In addition, Season 2 can explore the genetic origin of the main character in depth. However, we can’t anticipate much of the Sweet Tooth Season 2 plot until the trailer arrives.
Does the purple flower contain a cure for the virus?
Anyone who has seen the first season of Sweet Tooth knows that there is something wrong with the purple flower. The flower began to appear on Earth around the same time that the mysterious virus began and hybrid babies. Therefore, many fans believe that there is a connection between the flower and the H5G9 virus. It is possible that the same biological components are responsible for all three. The virus has reduced the number of people on Earth. Meanwhile, the animal-human hybrid babies are a perfect example of humans living in harmony with other species. The situation may have been started by some researchers in a lab rather than by nature itself. There’s a chance that part of Bear’s theory is correct. The disease could aid the planet in humanity’s presumptuous population explosion. On the other hand, the purple flowers can keep them from dying out completely.
dr. Bell’s created a temporary cure for Rani by using extracts of the pineal gland and hybrid childhood bone marrow. He made a secret sauce that could avert the sick. If the above theory proves true, the flowers may provide a more lasting remedy. On the other hand, there is also a possibility that in Sweet Tooth Season 2, the flowers could be helpful in creating a vaccine against the disease to save humanity on Earth.
What are Jepp and Aimee going to do?
In the first season of Sweet Tooth, Aimee and Jepp have finally crossed paths again when she finds him in bad shape after the Last Men shot him. Meanwhile, they both want revenge after the hybrid children are taken away. In Sweet Tooth Season 2, we expect them to come up with an effective plan to take out The Last Men for good.
Will the heart of Dr. Singh change in Sweet Tooth season 2?
At the end of the first season, we saw a humane side of Dr. Singh when he decided to spare Gus’s life. However, this does not mean that he will stop looking for a cure for Rani and the rest of humanity. Even though he was willing to do whatever it took to find a cure in the first season, we believe that in Sweet Tooth Season 2 he will start looking for an alternative source for the cure rather than experimenting with hybrid children. .
Will Bear convince Birdie to come back?
In the first season, Bear managed to fix the special satellite phone and contacted Gus’ mother, Birdie. She is also the scientist who appears to be responsible for the global outbreak of the H5G9 virus. However, she was in Antarctica to do some of her research. She may have been there to create a cure for the disease. So the question is whether Birdie can convince her to come back. And Will Gus finally meets his mother in Sweet Tooth Season 2.
Sweet Tooth Season 2: Release Date
If all goes according to plan, production of the second season could be completed around mid-2022. Then, in hopes that Covid doesn’t return to spoil the party, we suspect Sweet Tooth season 2 will premiere on Netflix sometime in late 2022.
