In the previous episode, Ruzek and Burgess struggled to make contact after Makayla’s kidnapping. So Ruzek surrendered to finding the missing daughter of his high school teacher, Olivia. She had been missing for months and they couldn’t find her body in any of the morgues. Adam went to her hostel and followed Olivia’s car. He found people with drug overdoses where Olivia’s car was. Ruzek found Olivia and discovered that her drug-addicted boss, Wade, was running a major drug operation.
Further, in Chicago PD Season 9 Episode 17, Ruzek decided to go undercover. he planned to take Wade down during a drug deal. He met Wade and decided the time and place for the deal. However, Wade changed the place of the deal at the last minute. He took Olivia and Ruzek to an abandoned factory and pointed a gun at Ruzek. Wade suspected Ruzek might be a cop. So he forced Ruzek to take some drugs, or he would kill Olivia. Besides, Ruzek took the drugs, and Wade was convinced.
While Wade left to deliver the drugs, Ruzek asked Olivia to deliver the Narcan from his truck. he also sent an emergency message to Kim. Wade saw Olivia and followed her to Adam’s truck. Wade saw a police vest in Ruzek’s truck and shot Olivia. Halstead and Upton, however, manage to capture Wade. Kim saved Adam in time by giving him an antidote. Unfortunately, Ruzek decided to move because Kim and Makayla seemed to be doing better without him in Chicago PD Season 9 Episode 17.
