On Sunday, a search is underway for three men missing in the water near the Three Mile Slough Bridge in Sacramento County. Family at the scene told KCRA that a group of men and children were camping overnight in the Brannan Island Recreation Area, on the bank of the delta. According to the family, on Sunday afternoon, while the group was fishing, an 8-year-old started wrestling in the water, five men jumped into the water to save the child, and three of the five men never made it back to shore. . at the scene, the three missing men identified as Edwin Rivas, Edwin Perez and Danilo Solorzano. “This happened so quickly, three people, my friends… and we used to come here all the time,” said Juan Cabrera. It’s primarily a fishing access through an unregulated path in the state park…this is title unguarded water, so the water was moving at the time,” Paul Wissler, captain at California State Parks.Sgt. Rod Grassman, a spokesman for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, said officers were told the child did not require medical attention. “After exhausting all search efforts, the officers have turned their attention to a salvage.” The United States Coast Guard will continue the salvage mission through the night. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the United States Coast Guard, Rio Vista Fire and California State Parks responded.

State Parks officials explained that water currents are extreme in the Sacramento San Joaquin River Delta system.

Weather conditions also presented a challenge, in the now recovery mission.

Sergeant Rod Grassman, a spokesman for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, said officers were told the child did not require medical attention.

“Deputies have searched the waterways with negative results,” he said. “After exhausting all search efforts, the delegates turned their attention to a recovery.”

The United States Coast Guard continues the salvage mission through the night.
