The London Stadium, which usually plays host to West Ham, had also been keen to stage the game, which cannot take place at Wembley this year due to it clashing with the final weekend of the Women’s Euros.
Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium had initially expressed interest in staging the Community Shield, but they are instead hosting the Emirates Cup that day.
This will be the first time since 2012 that the Community Shield has not been held at Wembley Stadium.
Back in 2012 it was staged at Villa Park as Wembley was being used to host Olympic football matches.
Before that, the Community was also played at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff while Wembley was rebuilt around the turn of the century.
This year’s game will take place on July 30, with the Premier League kicking off the following week.
