The hip-hop world mourns the loss of Coolio tonight.
The 90s rapper, best known for his hit songs “Gangsta’s Paradise” and “Fantastic Voyage”, was found on the bathroom floor of a friend’s Los Angeles home, his manager Jarez Posey. told CNN. Paramedics were called and pronounced Coolio dead at the scene.
Posey told TMZ that the paramedics believe coolio died of cardiac arrest. An official cause of death is not yet known.

Coolio, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr. is, was born on August 1, 1963. He grew up in Compton, California and became involved in the 80s and 90s rap scene on the West Coast. In 1994 Coolio released his debut solo album, It takes a thief. The album was certified platinum by the success of the hit single “Fantastic Voyage”.
Coolio scored his next big hit in 1996 with the release of ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’, from the soundtrack to the movie Dangerous settings. The rap earned him a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance. The song has been downloaded more than a billion times on YouTube.
Coolio also appeared as an actor throughout his career, appearing in TV shows such as Sabrina the teenage witch, the babysitterand Gravity falls. He was also a regular on Reality TV, with guest appearances on Celebrity Cook Off and Famous big brother.
