Dagenham & Redbridge manager Darryl McMahon has emerged as a contender for the AFC Wimbledon vacancy.

The 38-year-old is just shy of 300 matches in his managerial career and has a win percentage of 47.9.

The South London Press has been told that the Dons football panel are meeting on Tuesday to discuss candidates. We revealed earlier this evening that former Crewe boss David Artell is also in the running.

McMahon, a former West Ham United youngster, has taken the Daggers to seventh in the National League and they have a chance going into the final round of fixtures to claim a play-off place. They need to win and hope Chesterfield are defeated, putting them level on points but with a superior goal difference.

McMahon moved into management at Ebbsfleet United and they won promotion from National League South in 2017 after falling short in the play-offs in the previous campaign.

They qualified for the National League play-offs in the 2017-18 season before he left his position by mutual consent in November 2018.

McMahon’s next stop was Macclesfield Town but their financial issues saw him leave the League Two club after less than five months in the post.

Twenty-four hours later he took charge at Dagenham. They were mid-table in the 2020-21 campaign and have mounted a play-off challenge this time around.

McMahon had a year as an academy age group coach before he took the role of academy manager at Ebbsfleet in January 2014. He gained his UEFA A license in July 2014.
