Marketing is both an art and a science. It requires acute attention to detail, in-depth analysis, understanding of mass psychology, and a level of creative thinking that not many people possess.

However, there are some things that the best marketers all have in common. Below eight members of Council for Young Entrepreneurs discuss these things and explain how they make marketers so good at their jobs.

1. They conduct a significant amount of research

First, the best marketers do a significant amount of research to find out what their audience really needs. They then adjust their marketing strategy to meet those needs. By doing this, they take the necessary steps to ensure that they adapt their strategy to the needs of their audience so that they can engage with the target audience. Often the target audience has different needs that change with time and the business landscape. It’s important to pay attention to that so that you are always the one they go to when they need products or services in your industry. † John Rampton Calendar

2. They tell a captivating story

The best marketers know how to tell a story. They know that people are overwhelmed by all the information out there, and they can cut through the clutter by telling a story that speaks to their audience. Using stories, they can paint a picture for their audience and make them feel like they are a part of it. As a result, the audience is more likely to buy the product or service the marketer is selling because they feel connected to it. † Syed Balkan WPBeginner

3. They make data-driven decisions

The best marketers know how to make data-driven decisions. Not only do they love crunching numbers, but they also love building a story to communicate the said numbers effectively. The best marketers monitor and critically analyze trends. It reflects an active effort to understand the target demographic. What makes them good at their job is that each campaign is a case study that influences and influences the upcoming campaigns. They bask in the glory of successful campaigns for a minute and then spend the next three days critically reviewing what they did well, what could have been done better, and how to fix this in the future. Trends and data points indicate how the best marketers stand out from the rest in their class. † Candice Georgiadis digital day

4. They combine math and magic

Today’s best marketers understand how to combine “math and magic” (an expression coined by iHeartMedia chairman and CEO Bob Pittman). Mathematics refers to data analysis, the analytical side of marketing. Today we can capture more marketing data than ever before, and the best marketers use data, often data that their competitors don’t have, to outperform the competition. But ease of measurement and data availability can quickly become a “to the person with a hammer, everything looks like a nail” situation. If you focus too much on the math of what works today, you risk becoming averse to testing and trying new things – new creativity, new platforms, new technologies. For example, companies that went “all in” with SEO before it was easy to measure got results so extraordinary that they defy belief. That’s the magic side of marketing! † Ben Landers Blue Corona

5. They deliver both direct results and indirect income

Successful marketers focus on delivering direct results and driving indirect revenue. First, it’s important that their campaigns deliver a positive ROI. But beyond that, they want to ensure that their efforts amplify the larger marketing stack. Not only does this help grow the initiatives they have direct control over, but it also helps increase sales across the company. These marketers are becoming indispensable assets as they can have a greater impact on business growth. † Firas Kittanehu Amerisleep mattress

6. They understand the consumer struggle

Marketers are experts and understand the struggle of consumers. They speak in a way that makes the consumer feel heard and validated. When you can put yourself in the consumer’s shoes, everything shifts. Your potential customer should be able to read the content and immediately think, “It’s like they’re reading my mind!” Now that they feel heard and validated, they are open to the solution you have to offer. It’s a good idea for them to accept the offer because it sounds like a solution to their problem. † Mary Harcourt CosmoGlo

7. They excel at creative writing

The best marketers are great creative writers. However, being a great creative writer is not the same as having a good command of English. A great creative writer understands how to communicate verbal messages visually. This is not to say that marketers should write all the texts, but the best marketers usually can. Translating the marketing vision through writing is usually one of the reasons why marketers are good at their job. Being able to creatively describe visual and verbal messages is truly an art. † Matthew Capala alphametric

8. They make marketing sound natural

The best marketers know how to communicate without sounding like marketers. Most people have a strong reflexive reaction to marketing where they try to reject it as soon as they get the feeling that someone is trying to sell them something. Effective marketers know how to implement “soft” and “hard” sales to customers, and they also know how to build a comfortable rapport before pushing conversions. By having a natural conversation with their audience, an effective marketer humanizes your business, product and/or service and can overcome the negative barrier built in many people’s minds to stereotypes of shady car salesmen and telemarketers in popular culture. to see. † Bryce Welker The CPA Exam Man
