Ratched is an exciting drama series based on an asylum nurse, Mildred Ratched. The protagonist arrives in Northern California in 1947 and searches the big city for means of survival. Her fate makes her a nurse at the psychiatric hospital, the Lucia State Hospital, where new and disturbing experiments with the human mind take place. The devoted and honest nurse embarks on a mission to turn the wheels, slowly revealing the layers of darkness surrounding that ‘monster-creating’ shelter. Currently, fans eagerly await Ratched Season 2.
While the story is completely original and fictional, the nurse’s character is based on Ken Kesey’s “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”. The author was inspired by a head nurse in the psychiatric ward where he worked. To complete his 1962 novel, he went to work in a large hospital. The story revolves around Ratched who becomes bitter and bitter throughout the story, eventually becoming a ‘Complete Monster’ to her patients. Will she succeed? Millions of fans are waiting too!
Ratched Season 2: Renewal and Release Date
As soon as the first season of this series aired Netflix way back in September 2020 it turned out to be an instant success. Within 28 days of its release, more than 48 million viewers searched for it, making it the most-watched series debut of the year. The show’s sudden success got the creators excited and Ratched Season 2 was confirmed in no less time. 2020 also marked the renewal of this show by Netflix.
Ratched Season 2 is not on Netflix’s June release schedule as of now. It’s been almost 2 years since the release of the first season and fans have been eagerly awaiting even a little bit of information about the second season. After fans took to social media, Netflix revealed it has nothing to say about the release date or even a hint about how much progress has been made.
Although Ratched Season 2 itself was made official way back in 2020, no photos or trailers or any kind of teaser have appeared on the market. It seems like there is no work for the second season. You can watch the official season one trailer and get an insight into the craziness and tension that revolves around the shelter nurse, Mildred Ratched, and the shelter itself.
Gossip behind the delay and episodes revealed?
There is speculation that Sarah Paulson and Finn Wittrock won’t get enough dates to complete Ratched Season 2’s schedules. These talented actors are quite in demand in the industry and have loads of projects in their lineup. Other actors such as Cynthia Nixon, Sharon Stone and Jon Jon Briones have their separate projects with shorter release dates.
The good news is that IMDB has confirmed 10 episodes for Ratched Season 2 as of now and the fans are dancing amused. But the craving has yet to subside as they wait for more details to come out of the pockets of creators or production houses. Ratched Season 1 has over 62% rotten tomatoes and an IMDB average of 7.2 out of 10.
Crossing all the “mixed and average” reviews Ratched has become increasingly popular lately and it might be the right time to release season two. Netflix is going to be announcing details of some pretty big projects at a five-day event called Netflix’s Geeked Week in 2022. There’s a slew of trailers for this event pointing to the release date of many projects that will be released in no less time. Ratched is not mentioned in this series of projects and is not part of it. Maybe there will be a surprise, who knows?
Season 2 Plot and Cast
‘Sarah Paulson’ and ‘Finn Wittrock’ return as nurse Mildred Ratched and Edmund Tolleson, the serial killer, respectively. Cynthia Nixon will likely return as Nurse Briggs and of course Judy Davis will play Nurse Betsy Bucket. Season one had a very different conclusion than the writers intended. Nurse Bucket took control of Lucia State while Briggs learned about her cancer. She herself would die in the beginning, but we can explain her existence from now on. Ratched’s brother, Edmund, is currently on the run after learning that his sister was planning to kill him. He may be on the path of revenge and people are eager to know if they will both clash or make repairs in the relationship.
