ax Verstappen registered his first win of the Formula One 2022 Drivers’ Championship at Sunday’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Sergio Perez was on pole for the showdown in Jeddah with Verstappen starting back in fourth, separated by the two Ferrari cars of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.
It is the Scuderia who took the one-two finish in Bahrain a week ago, opening the season in fine form and a helping hand from Red Bull’s implosion.
But a late overtake on Leclerc did the job for Verstappen, after his teammate dropped back to fourth after a safety car caught out the race leader at the pit stops.
