Cracking the Stateside market has been an amibition of F1 bosses for decades and this trip to a purpose-built track around Hard Rock Stadium promises to be the next step in that pursuit.

The 5.4km circuit features a short start/finish straight before a set of medium-speed corners through sector one, ahead of a long, sweeping back straight into a tight and technical end to sector two. The final sector features a drag through the second of three DRS zones before a hairpin back to the start.

Along with the glamorous location, there is plenty of intrigue around who will fare best through 57 laps on Sunday evening.

Verstappen claimed the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix grand slam a fortnight ago, coming out on top in qualifying, the sprint and race to reduce Leclerc’s championship lead.

The race at Imola demonstrated why F1 is heading towards another titanic battle for the title, this time between the reigning champion and the Ferrari star – with Lewis Hamilton nowhere to be seen.

TV channel: Today’s race will be shown live on Sky Sports Main Event and F1, with coverage beginning on F1 at 7pm before lights out at 8.30pm.

Live stream: Sky Sports subscribers can also tune in online via the Sky Go app.

Free highlights: Channel 4 will be airing full free-to-air race highlights at 12.30am on Monday morning.
