Ecommerce marketplace Flipkart on Tuesday announced the onboarding of Bebe, a San Francisco-based fashion brand, ahead of the approaching holiday season.

This comes at a time when shoppers, especially in the mass medium segment, are increasingly looking for stylish fashion options.

Owned and operated by Bluestar AllianceBebe’s catalog of nearly 1,000 styles will be available to millions of Flipkart customers in subways and Tier 2 plus cities, the company said in a statement.

“Flipkart understands our brand and how to engage fashion-focused consumers online. We look forward to working together to reach the Bebe shopper in this exciting market.” Ralph Gindicowner and COO, said Bluestar Alliance.

The Bebe selection, priced from ₹800, includes tops, dresses, hats, combis, denims, nightwear, activewear and lingerie, and is available today on Flipkart.

“Over the past two years, there has been a huge shift in consumer preferences when it comes to fashion as it delves into new niche categories such as athleisure. The launch of Bebe comes at an opportune time when people across India from metros to T2+ regions are looking to upgrade their wardrobe for the holiday season,” said Sandeep Karwadeputy director, Flipkart Fashion.

Flipkart had more than 50 million app downloads for the holiday season, more than Amazon’s, according to wealth manager Bernstein’s report. The e-commerce giant leads the festival market share with 62%, while Amazon has 27%, the report said.

Flipkart has a registered customer base of more than 400 million and offers more than 150 million products in more than 80 categories, the company claims.
