Amid difficult global market conditions, tech giant HCL technologies reportedly laid off 350 employees worldwide, including in India, Guatemala and the Philippineswho were working on a Microsoft news project, according to media reports.

According to reports, the employees who were employed by the news center of Microsoft’s customer HCL, MSNreportedly learned that they were released at a town hall meeting last week.

The last working day is reportedly September 30 for the laid-off employees, who will receive severance pay.

Last month, a report said at least half of companies worldwide are planning to lay off people, with most cutting bonuses and taking jobs amid the economic downturn.

According to the latest PwC ‘Pulse: Managing business risks in 2022’ survey released last month, 50 percent of respondents in the US are cutting their overall workforce, even as business leaders remain concerned about hiring and retaining talent.

More than 32,000 tech workers have been laid off in the US until July, including at big tech companies such as Microsoft and… meta (formerly Facebook), and the worst is not over for the tech sector that has seen massive stock sell-offs.

In India, more than 25,000 start-up workers have lost their jobs since the start of the pandemic – and more than 12,000 have been laid off this year.
