huge battle for pole position takes place today in qualifying for the Formula One Spanish Grand Prix.

The tight and twisty Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is not known for producing bundles of overtaking opportunities, leading to the Saturday session being of the utmost importance.

However, drivers had found DRS to be extra powerful this year, perhaps opening up the long start/finish straight as a haven for swooping past other cars.

Charles Leclerc leads the world championship ahead of the weekend but has Max Verstappen increasingly on his tail after the Red Bull world champion won each of the last two races.

Where to watch the F1 Spanish GP qualifying

TV channel: Today’s will be shown live on Sky Sports F1, with coverage beginning at 2.25pm BST before the session starts at 3pm.

Live stream: Sky Sports subscribers can also tune in online via the Sky Go app.

Free highlights: Channel 4 will be airing full free-to-air race highlights at 6.45m on Saturday evening.
