As companies see 5G adoption at an accelerated pace with its rollout, IndiaTelecommunications and 5G job openings have risen 33.7 percent in the past 12 months, a new report found on Tuesday.



Jobs such as telecommunications engineer grew 16 percent in the country from August to September 2022.

Data from the leading job site Indeed also showed that the average salary for top positions such as technical support, BPO executive and customer service is Rs 3,53,298, Rs 3,29,520 and Rs 3,06,680 respectively.

“India is eagerly awaiting the rollout of 5G, and companies have already started hiring for 5G-specific technology and services. We are likely to see an increase in hiring these roles in the coming quarters,” he said. Saumitra ChandCareer expert, indeed India.

As India rolls out 5G, the demand for cybersecurity is likely to increase as well.

There is already a 25.5 percent talent mismatch in security between August 2019 and August 2022, and the launch of 5G services will cause a major spike in security-related jobs, the report said.

“There will be an increasing need for skilled talent who can design security systems and strengthen network architectures to adapt to the new technology,” Chand said.

The pandemic accelerated the need for robust cybersecurity practices as businesses became more remote, more devices were online, digital payments grew and security vulnerabilities hit record highs.

The data showed that the number of “cybersecurity” job openings increased by 81 percent between August 2019 and August 2022.
