software giant infosys softening his stand on moonlight has given its employees permission to take on external work with prior approval, sources report Friday. The company communicated its new policy to employees via email.

The company email states that any employee who wishes to hire an appearance may do so, with the prior approval of their manager and BP-HRand in their personal time, for locations that do not compete with Infosys or Infosys’ customers.

Moonlight has been discussed in business for quite some time. Techies working for other companies have become a trend and concern in the industry with startups easily offering very attractive offers to use the skills of the talent working for other companies.

Rishad Premji, the chairman of wipro repeatedly made statements to moonlight and had also asked the startups not to focus solely on direct fortune. The company had previously announced it would lay off hundreds of employees over integrity issues. Rishad Premjic also told how an employee in a key position was kicked out for lack of integrity and later the company did not give him a clean letter of relief.

He also shared that it took no more than 10 minutes to fire 20 senior staff members who showed a lack of integrity.

Infosys insiders said the move would help the company find solutions to many of the challenges it currently faces. The decision would help the employee perform the job of his or her choice.

Infosys’ move will bring sharp criticism and set a new trend in the business world, experts say.
