The Chhattisgarha Tourism Office (CTB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation on Tuesday (IRCTC) to promote state tourist sites through the PSU’s social media platform, a government official said here.

The agreement, signed in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel at the tourism conclave hosted here by CTB on the occasion of World Tourism Day, will boost the most important sector in the state, he said.

Within the framework of the MoU, the IRCTC will provide tourist sites of Chhattisgarh through its social media platform, attracting travelers from other parts of the country, the official said.

During his speech, Baghel emphasized the uniqueness of Chhattisgarh’s rich culture and history and emphasized the need to show it to the world.

“In the past, the mere mention of Chhattisgarh conjured up images of Maoist violence and mineral resources. Tourism in the state was neglected for a long time and even after the formation of the state (in 2000) it failed to gain the necessary popularity and the focus remained focused on Maoist issues,” he said.

It was necessary to put the tourist sites of Chhattisgarh on the world tourism map and his government has been making constant efforts in this direction, the prime minister added.

Meanwhile, the CM also unveiled a statue of Chendru Mandavi popularly known as “tiger boy” from the Narayanpur district of Bastar, who gained international fame after starring in the movie “Jungle Saga” directed by noted Swedish filmmaker Arne Sucksdroff. in the late 1950s, the official said.

Mandavi’s grandfather had rescued a tiger cub from the jungle and gifted it to him when he was a kid. He raised the tiger named Tembu.

The Swedish filmmaker had visited Mandavi’s village of Gadhbengal (Narayanpur district) and made a film about him, he said.

Baghel also released a memento of CTB featuring the friendship of Mandavi, who died in 2013, and the tiger.
