In the case of Akame Ga Kill, it’s because of the win. The second season of Akame Ga Kill did not get a release date, mainly because the first season did not bring in much money.
A new anime season will only be green-lit if the last season was profitableand as we saw above with Akame Ga Kill, it wasn’t.
Gain is often the main reason why many anime series never get a new season, because profit is the most important.
There is also the problem that this series has a original ending. That means there were never any plans to continue it with a second season.
And looking at how much money this series made, I’d say it was the right decision.
The only options for a new season of Akame Ga Kill would be to reboot this series or fix the original ending of the anime with a second season.
However, given the poor profit this series has made for the production committee, I doubt it will ever happen.
But you never know with Netflix nearby.
So it’s easy to see why this series never got a second season. It just wasn’t worth doing anything more for this franchise.
