So far, Citrus Season 2 has not been officially announced, so there is no release date for the second season of this anime, but it remains to be seen if there will be a Citrus Season 2 and when it will come out.
Here’s everything we know so far about whether or not a new season of Citrus will be released and when it will be released.
The Citrus anime series, called シトラス in Japanese, is based on a popular yuri manga of the same name that was first published in 2013. The Citrus manga series is written and illustrated by Saburouta.
Citrus is a great romantic yuri anime series with drama elements loved by people all over the world, which follows Yuzu Aihara who was forced to transfer to a new school. For a fashionable socialite like Yuzu, this is another chance to fall in love and finally experience a first kiss.
The anime television series Citrus has had only one season so far, directed by Takeo Takahashi and animated by Studio Passione† It is not yet known whether the studio or director will return for Citrus s2.
The first 12-part Citrus television anime series premiered in Japan in January 2018. Since then, this series has amassed a sizable fan base who are still waiting for Citrus Season 2, Episode 1 or some sort of sequel.

Is Citrus Season 2 Coming?
Citrus Season 2 will almost certainly never take place. There are not many anime adaptations of yuri series as they usually don’t sell well. Citrus was unfortunately no exception as the anime adaptation was not profitable. That’s why there won’t be a second season.
The Citrus anime didn’t make much money. Citrus Blu-Ray sales average around 1,100 copies, which is little, and virtually no merchandising or figures have been made for this series. Also, the manga isn’t selling well, so I don’t think there’s any hope for Citrus Season 2.
The sad part is that there is still plenty of material left to adapt for another season. There are 10 volumes available in Japan, only 4 of which have been modified so far. From what’s available now, one to two additional seasons could be animated, but a sequel to this series has a near 0% chance.

Citrus Season 2 Release Date
There is no official release date for Citrus Season 2 as a second season has never been confirmed, canceled or announced, so there is no countdown, and a release date is quite doubtful of ever being announced, as a second season will most likely never be announced.
I wanted to say there’s still a chance this series will get a new season and release date. However, after researching sales and how well the sequel manga Citrus Plus is doing, I think the chances are close to zero in 2021. Nothing about this series seems profitable enough for a second season.
We will update this post if there is any news or release date for any new Citrus anime project on the Citrus official Twitter account† If you’ve given up hope that a new Citrus season will ever come out, you can start reading the manga from part 5 as the anime covered parts 1 through 4.

Many anime fans would be happy if season 2 of Citrus anime was announced, but it will most likely never happen. I’d recommend reading the manga if you want to continue the Citrus story, as that’s the only option at this stage.
