We need to look at two factors to determine if there will be a Land of the Lustrous Season 2 in 2022 and the likely release date of Land of the Lustrous Season 2.
The first factor is the source material and the second is how much profit the first season made.
We’ll now be looking into both to see if Land of the Lustrous will have a season 2 or not.
Land of the Lustrous Season 2 Manga
For the anime Land of the Lustrous, the source material is manga.
How many parts of Land of the Lustrous are there? As of December 2021, there will be 11 manga volumes of Land of the Lustrous.
Is the land of the glossy manga ready? The land of the shiny manga is underway and the end is not yet in sight. There are at least a few more years before this series is about to end.
Haruko Ichikawai published the last volume in Japan on July 20, 2020.
Land of the Lustrous Volume 12 Release Date? There is no release date for volume 12, but it should be out in 2022.
Where to start reading Land of the Lustrous after the anime? The Land of the Lustrous manga after the third season is Volume 5.

The first season adjusted volumes 1 to 4, so the second season also needs to adjust four manga volumes and use 5 to 8.

I highly recommend getting the Land of the Shining Manga† Many fans prefer books to anime, and it’s the only way to continue the story in 2021.

How well did The Land of The Lustrous Blu-ray sell? The Land of The Lustrous Blu-ray sold approximately 6,000 copies per disc. That’s a good number for 2017.
Solid Blu-Ray Sales are always a bonus for the odds of a new season.
How well does the Land of The Lustrous manga sell? Land of the Lustrous Volume 10 sold 125,000 copies, and the last volume, Volume 11, sold only about 110,000 copies.
The Land of The Lustrous manga is also selling quite well.
How many copies does Land of The Lustrous have in print? As of 2017-05-23, the Land of The Lustrous series had 1,400,000 copies in print.
It is not in the top 200 most popular manga series of all time.
How much merchandise is there for Land of The Lustrous? There are over 40 figurines, which is a nice number. Over 400 pieces of merchandise were also made for this series.

I strongly recommend to check out Land of Lustrous Merchandise if you are a fan of the Houseki no Kuni series. Amazing things have been made for this franchise.
Land of the Lustrous Season 2 Release Date
As of December 2021, Land of The Lustrous Season 2 will not have a release date as it has not yet been confirmed. However, we need to learn if there are any plans for the second season next year.
Houseki No Kuni Season 2 will probably never take place if there is no news about it in 2022.
As can be seen above, there is more than enough source material for a second season and this series has made enough money.
The problem is, while it made enough money, it wasn’t a big hit, and it doesn’t have the support of Netflix like Beastars is doing.
Earnings were probably modest from the first season, and new seasons often bring in much less money, so a second season may not be worth it.
I would say the second season is a 30% chance of it happeningthanks to the fact that the first season didn’t sell well.
Next year, Studio Orange will be animating the final season of Beastars.
So they will either work on Season 2 of Land of the Lustrous or start a new series that they think will be more profitable.
I don’t believe any other studio would record this series.
So the best chance for this series is if, following the popularity of Beastars, Netflix would be interested in adding Houseki no Kuni to their portfolio.

In summary, there is a good chance that a Land of the shiny season 2. We should know more about whether there will be a Houseki No Kuni Season 2 in 2022. But don’t expect the release date for the second season to be any time soon. The earliest I could see is 2023.
