The Income Tax Department carried out searches on Wednesday in about 40 properties belonging to Madhusudan Ghee in Mumbai and other places in Maharashtra in connection with alleged tax evasion, sources said.



According to information, the company has recently invested in the energy and dairy industry in Uttar Pradesh.

The Tax and Customs Administration has not issued an official quotation on this.

Sources said IT officials were scanning the company’s last three-year transactions. They were also recording the testimonials of the company’s employees.

In the coming months, the IT department may Chartered Accountants of the company, if their statements are needed in the case, sources said.

According to the sources, some documents and incriminating material were also seized.
