The internet can sometimes go too far, and Morbius can be one of those cases. Memes made about the Morbius movie have been trending on social media lately. The Jared Leto-led Sony film was released earlier this year and has received mixed reviews from audiences and critics. However, Morbius’ popularity on Twitter has soared in recent weeks, with the ‘Morbin’ time’ meme becoming a viral sensation and companies like KFC joining the joke. In fact, Sony has opted to re-release the film in theaters in response to the joke. Jared Leto himself took to social media with a humorous video promoting a (hopefully) fake Morbius 2 script just when we thought the Morbius jokes weren’t going to get any crazier.
“Can you tell me what time it is?” Leto asks in the comment section. We’re sure you can think of it…it’s Morbin’ time! The Oscar winner shared a video where he reads a script for a new movie called “Morbius 2: It’s Morbin’ Time,” which appears to be a script for a new movie. Leto can be seen in the video that follows a script for Morbius 2: Before the Curb, Your Enthusiasm tune is playing in the background, It’s Morbin’ Time. After a slew of Morbius memes, including “Morbin’ Time,” Jared Leto joins the fun with a fake Morbius 2 script. Sony Pictures has continued to expand another Marvel movie universe besides Marvel Studios since Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy ended. The so-called Sony’s Spider-Man Universe began with Venom, starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, who became the franchise’s first anti-hero thanks to the iconic Symbiote. After the success of the original Venom movie, Sony quickly decided not only to make a sequel, but also to expand their Spidey-inspired universe.
After Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Morbius, played by Jared Leto of Suicide Squad, was the second Spider-Man villain to receive the antihero treatment. The film Morbius, directed by Daniel Espinosa, follows Michael Morbius, who suffers from a rare blood disease that he tries to cure with vampire bats. Michael, on the other hand, turns into his Marvel Comics counterpart as a result of this experiment. Morbius eventually flopped at the film office and received critical acclaim, receiving a 17 percent Rotten Tomatoes score from critics.
While Morbius may not have lived up to Sony Pictures’ expectations, the comic book adaptation spawned millions of memes and jokes about the Marvel movie. Leto was particularly impressed with ‘Morbin’ Time’, a tribute to the Power Rangers. The cameraman approaches Leto in a new video he posted on Twitter and observes him reviewing a script, which turns out to be a false screenplay for Morbius 2: It’s Morbin’ Time.
Despite Morbius being a blockbuster, the Marvel movie is returning to theaters. Despite Leto’s entertaining video, it’s worth noting that Sony Pictures hasn’t been able to say if a Morbius 2 will be made, especially in light of the box office results. While Morbius may not continue as a series, Sony’s Spider-Man Universe continues to grow with new characters. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Sergei Kravinoff, aka Kraven, in the upcoming movie Kraven the Hunter, which is now in production. Madame Web plays Dakota Johnson as the titular hero, having added numerous new cast members in recent months.
As funny as most of the Morbius jokes were, it’s great to see Leto’s reaction and get him involved. Even if there isn’t a sequel to Morbius, that doesn’t mean his role as a Marvel antihero is gone. There’s at least a Spider-Man-related storyline for the production company to somehow continue, thanks to the post-credits sequence between Morbius and Michael Keaton’s Vulture. Since Sony Pictures is still building its new universe, Leto could easily reprise the role in future movies, be it with unannounced characters or the confirmed Venom 3. Only we’ll have to see, but Morbius seems to be a series too. have been postponed for the time being.
As Morbius became a viral sensation for days, many of us joked that Sony would develop a sequel based on the memes. Some fans, on the other hand, are adamant that this is exactly what they really want. Morbius 2 was trending on Twitter on May 29, when fans began pushing for a sequel. When Morbius says “it’s morbin time” in Morbius 2, users speculated that the theater audience would lose it completely. Others called for Morbius to have its own universe, and some fans came up with Morbius movie titles ranging from Morbius 1 to Morbius 10.
