Funeral directors gathered at St. Vincent Ferrer Roman Catholic Church to remember the noted socialite. Former President Trump entered the church through a side entrance, and their children and their partners — Donald Trump Jr. and his fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle; Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner; and Eric and Lara Trump — were also there.

Ivana Trump’s three children, as well as Dennis Basso, a fashion designer and long-time friend of Trump, brought praise, a source familiar with the service told CNN.

Former first lady Melania Trump also attended the funeral of her husband’s first wife on Wednesday, a person with knowledge of her schedule told CNN. The person confirmed that Tiffany Trump, the daughter of Donald Trump from his second marriage to Marla Maples, was present at the service in New York City.

Ivana Trump died last week at the age of 73 from “blunt impact injuries” to the torso, authorities said.

Ivana Trump grew up in communist Czechoslovakia and collaborated with Donald Trump on some of his most prominent real estate projects. The two divorced in 1992 in the wake of his tabloid affair with Maples.

When the couple finally settled in, Ivana Trump walked away with $14 million, among other perks like a huge mansion in Greenwich, Connecticut. She married and divorced twice more while maintaining a jet-setting, globe-trotting lifestyle.

She once cited her “freedom” and “perfect life” as reasons for turning down an offer to serve as ambassador to her native Czech Republic.

“I was just offered to be the US Ambassador to the Czech Republic — and Donald told me. He said, ‘Ivana, if you want it, I’ll give it to you,'” Trump told CBS Sunday Morning in 2017. “But I love my freedom. I like to do what I want to do, go where I want, with whoever I want. And I can afford my lifestyle.”

“Okay, why should I say goodbye to Miami in the winter, say goodbye to Saint-Tropez in the summer, and say goodbye to spring and fall in New York?” she continued. “I have a perfect life.”

The former president announced his ex-wife’s death on Truth Social, remembering her in a post as “an amazing, beautiful and amazing woman, who lived an amazing and inspiring life”.
Donald Trump Jr. watches as his mother's coffin is carried into a church on Wednesday.

“Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric. She was as proud of them as we were all so proud of her. Rest in peace, Ivana!” read the message.

Her children, too, paid tribute publicly, with Ivanka Trump tweeting that her late mother was “brilliant, charming, passionate and extremely funny,” adding: “She lived life to the fullest — and never missed a chance to laugh and dance. will miss her forever and will always keep her memory alive in our hearts.”

Eric Trump wrote in part on Instagram that his mother was “a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty and a caring mother and friend.”

Zach Erdem, a New York restaurant owner and longtime friend, told CNN he was happy to have “so many memories” with her. “All she wanted was, like everyone else, to live a peaceful life and be herself,” he said.

Ivana Trump, Erdem added, “was just a peaceful woman.”

This story was updated on Wednesday with additional developments.

CNN’s Gabby Orr and Kate Bennett contributed to this report.
