“This morning I tested positive for COVID-19,” says Manchin tweeted. “I am fully vaccinated and boosted and experiencing mild symptoms. I will isolate and follow CDC guidelines as I continue to work remotely to serve West Virginians.”
It is unclear what effect, if any, Manchin’s isolation will have on Democrats’ efforts to move forward with their legislative agenda. The Senate has just under two weeks before it begins its recess in August, and Democrats have expressed hopes of passing bills — from protecting same-sex marriage to increasing funding for semiconductor manufacturing in the U.S. and changing prescription drug pricing laws among other issues — before we leave town for about a month.
