The supermodel appeared via live video link from Gloucestershire as she gave evidence in support of her former boyfriend in his defamation case in the US against his former partner Amber Heard.
It followed Heard testifying on May 5 on instances of alleged abuse between her and her Depp. She cited his relationship with Moss and an unverified rumour that Depp had once pushed Moss down a flight of stairs.
“I don’t hesitate and wait—I instantly think of Kate Moss and stairs,” Heard had earlier told the court.
But Moss, who was in a relationship from 1994 to 1998 with Depp, rejected the claim when she gave evidence on Wednesday to Fairfax County District Court on Wednesday, saying she had slid down the stairs.
“We were leaving the room and Johnny left the room before I did. There had been a rainstorm and as I left the room I slid down the stairs. I hurt my back. And I screamed because I didn’t know what had happened,” she told the court as she addressing the incident at the GoldenEye resort in Jamaica.
She said Depp came running back to help her, “carried me to my room and got me medical attention.”
When asked by Depp’s lawyer Benjamin Chew if Depp ever pushed her down the stairs ever, she replied no.
“No, he never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down any stairs,” she said as she gave evidence wearing a black blazer and a spotted white shirt.
Moss was called by Mr Depp’s legal team, who had appeared to celebrate when her name was mentioned by Ms Heard during her evidence last week, as it meant they could call her to give evidence about the claim.
Depp is suing Heard over a 2018 article she wrote in the Washington Post, which his lawyers say falsely implies he physically and sexually abused her while they were together.
He has denied all accusations.
Over the past several weeks jurors have heard details of multiple instances of abuse, with accusations of violence levelled at both Mr Depp and Ms Heard.
Ms Moss’s evidence came in the final week of the trial, with closing arguments expected on Friday.
