Millwall loan target Elliot Anderson has been nominated for League Two Player of the Month for April.
The Lions are keen on signing the Newcastle United attacker in this summer’s transfer window.
Anderson joined Bristol Rovers in January on a short-term deal and proved a revelation. He scored once and produced two assists on the final day as the Gas smashed Scunthorpe United to claim the final automatic promotion spot ahead of Northampton Town.
The EFL have announced their shortlist for the divisional accolade.
Elliot Anderson (Bristol Rovers, winger) – Using his quick feet and focused mind, the teenage Newcastle loanee contributed three goals that were either equalisers or winners to Rovers’ promotion surge. He also added a pair of assists in the thrilling comeback victory at Rochdale.
Jon Guthrie (Northampton Town, central defender) – The unflustered quiet organiser of a Northampton defence which kept three clean sheets in six games, Guthrie joined fellow central defender Fraser Horsfall on eight league goals with close-range efforts at Oldham and Orient.
Jamie Proctor (Port Vale, striker) – With Vale missing key players through injury for the run-in, Proctor stepped up to fill the void. The 30-year-old oozed confidence in his finishing ability to score four goals in six games as Vale maintained their automatic promotion push.
Pierce Sweeney (Exeter City, central defender) – You won’t find Sweeney’s name in the list of scorers or goal-makers, but the defender’s influence driving on an Exeter side to finally clinch promotion after five near misses was just as important as the four clean sheets he helped to preserve.
