Millwall will listen to offers for Mahlon Romeo this summer.
The 26-year-old has spent the last League One season on loan at Portsmouth.
Right-back Romeo has been linked with Cardiff City, now bossed by his former Lions team-mate Steve Morison.
Portsmouth manager Danny Cowley told The News: “I don’t think it would be possible for us to keep Mahlon from a financial perspective. I would anticipate he’d stay in the Championship.”
Romeo has played 221 first-team matches for Millwall. The last of those was against Cardiff City, a 3-1 away loss, in August 2021.
Lions manager Gary Rowett told the South London Press: “I’ve heard other managers talk about our player, which is understandable. The expectation is that I think we’re open to offers in the summer, which is why Mahlon left us to go to Portsmouth. He wanted to play regular football.
“I’m pretty sure he will want to do the same again next season, ideally for him at a higher level.
“We’ll see what happens.
“He is our player until we get an agreement or an opportunity that fits everybody then that’s what it is really.”
