The Witch from Mercury is the next installment in the long-running Mobile Suit Gundam series. And as the title suggests – the main character will be a woman – breaks with tradition. After all, it is a series known for its many memorable male Mobile Suit pilots such as Amuro Ray, Char Aznable and Shiro Amada.

While we don’t know the name of the crimson heroine yet, we do know that she controls the cool Gundam antenna. The color scheme of this Mobile Suit matches the blue, red, white and yellow color scheme made popular by the legendary RX-78-02 that appeared in the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam series.

And according to the official Twitter accountJapanese Gundam fans can expect the TV show to air on MBS/TBS every Sunday at 5 p.m., starting with the October 2022 release date of Witch from Mercury, the summer 2022 anime season. Given the death of good mecha anime in recent years, waiting until October can be excruciating for fans of fast-paced mecha action.

The Witch From Mercury will also be the first new TV anime in the franchise since Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans (Season 1), which premiered in October 2015. Nothing has been revealed about the voice cast and collaborators yet, but Sunrise will handle the production.

What model kits based on The Witch From Mercury can fans buy?

The Mobile Suit Gundam franchise owes much of its appeal to its merchandising. And in particular the extensive range of GUNPLA model kits, which provide an accurate representation of the different mobile suits down to the smallest detail.

The three Mobile Suit designs of The Witch From Mercury recently unveiled are the Beguir-Beau, Gundam Aerial, and Gundam Lfrith. And given the slick looks of these designs, fans will want to get their hands on the model kits ASAP. But GUNPLA has their . already revealed HG 1/144 series model kits with prices and release dates TBA.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury PROLOGUE will be featured during the upcoming GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE – LINK THE UNIVERSE. It is an event that will take place in Japan at locations such as THE GUNDAM BASE Virtual World and GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA.

Other events around the world will also feature this foreword episode. More details about this event will be announced shortly. Stay tuned!
