Motorola teased its upcoming Razr in a new trailer showing off the device’s chinless redesign (through GSMArena† The trailer, that Motorola posted on his Weibo accountgives us a brief glimpse of the smoothed edges of the third-generation device, its dual camera, new hinge, and what appears to be a larger outer screen that matches a leaked version of the device we saw in May.
You can’t see much from the trailer though, other than the Motorola logo stamped on one of the bezels and on the back of the device. Chen Jin, the general manager of the Lenovo Business Group in China, offered a quirky look at the device at a personal event (and with much better lighting). He posted the photos on Weibo and demonstrated what the upcoming Razr will look like when opened and folded, further cementing the validity of past leaks.
Motorola has confirmed that the device comes with the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor, but not much else is official. As noted by GSMArenaPrevious leaks indicate that it will feature a 6.7-inch FHD Plus OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is also rumored to come with a 50MP f/1.8 main camera and 32MP ultra-wide camera on the outside, as well as a 13MP selfie camera on the inside of the device.
But the new images showing a boxier styling for the upcoming device strongly suggest Motorola is taking some design cues from the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 — a foldable one that has been more well-received than Motorola’s first two attempts at revamping the classic Razr. As we noted in our reviews, both devices were overpriced (costing over $1,000), and each had its own flaws, such as a lumpy screen or a subpar camera. Motorola’s second Razr reboot used to be better than the first, so we can only hope Motorola takes user feedback into account and makes its third attempt even better.
Motorola has still not released any information about the release date or pricing of the device. Back in May, reliable leaker Evan Blass said the next-generation Razr will launch in China in late July or early August, but will reach the rest of the world at a later date.
