Early life and education

Katie Dianne Featherston was born on October 20, 1982 in Arlington, Texas, USA. Little is known about her parents but she has two siblings although it is not known whether she is the youngest or the oldest sister of the three.

Throwback to this fun @bgbstudio shoot. I miss #Texas today (all stay safe there, okay?), but I miss my longer…

She attended Bowie High School in her hometown, and even during her teens, she enjoyed acting and participating in many drama activities. She was even featured in a one-act play called “White,” which brought her several local acting awards, so it was no surprise when she enrolled at Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of Arts in University Park, Texas, choosing to act as her field. In 2005 she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting.

Career

After graduating, Featherston moved to Los Angeles, California, USA to continue her acting career. She made her acting debut in 2006 when she appeared in the horror short “Mutation”, co-starring John-Damon Charles and Eddie Croft, but the film was not well received by the critics.

However, she had better luck with her second film as she was cast as the star of the horror movie “Paranormal Activity”, which was shot in 2007 but released in US theaters in 2009.

Katie Featherston

Her portrayal of the lead character of the same name, Katie, who… chased by a demon Named Toby, brought her worldwide fame and made her one of the most famous faces in horror films, especially since it earned her the Best Actress Award at the Screamfest Film Festival in 2009. She took the part in the “Paranormal Activity 2”, which aired three years later, and that same year she also appeared in the sci-fi horror film “Psychic Experiment”, in which she played Elspeth Thompson, and was a guest on an episode of the ninth season of “Jimmy Kimmel Live”.

In 2011, she was in a prequel to “Paranormal Activity”, simply called “Paranormal Activity 3”. The following year she had a brief role in the BBC series “The River”, in which she played Rosetta ‘Rabbit’ Fischer, then Katie again, this time in “Paranormal Activity 4”.

In 2013, Featherston starred in the first season of the TV series “Act-Anon”, which depicted the lives of several young people with their own everyday problems. She was also part of the cast of “The Newest Testament”, a short comedy about the latest return of Jesus Christ to Earth.

Featherston made her last appearance in the “Paranormal” saga in 2014, when she played Katie again in “Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones”, but this time only as a guest.

She made her directorial debut in 2016, when she and David DeGrow Shotwell directed the short drama film “Becoming”, starring Kimberly Condict. A year later, she starred in “Solace for the Unloved,” a bleak TV series about a heartbroken woman, which she also directed, but the show was canceled after one season.

In 2017, she appeared in the short comedy sketch “MasterClass: Trolling the President” along with Luke Barnett and Chris Mann. In 2019, she was in another short film, “The Lonely Host”, and appeared in the crime TV series “Big Little Lies”, along with Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley.

During her career, Katie’s guested on several TV shows, such as “The Totally Rad Show”, “The Jay Leno Show”, “TMI Hollywood” and “The Bonnie Hunt Show”.

Private life

Featherston keeps her personal life private and away from paparazzi’s eyes.

She has not been romantically linked to anyone and has never revealed a relationship. However, in 2016, she was photographed with a gold ring on her ring finger, leading to rumors that she is married. Featherston has never commented on the rumours, but regularly posts photos of a young boy on her social media – who is believed by many to be her son.

Featherstone is active on social media platforms, most notably Instagram, where she has over 14,500 followers.

She is an avid horror movie fan – one of her favorite horror movies is 1992’s “Candyman”.

She has a dog named Harvey.

Net value

Featherston has made a nice amount of money from her career in horror films, despite not acting in too many titles. “Paranormal Activity” had a budget of about $15,000, but made nearly $200 million at the US box office alone, making it one of the highest-grossing films of all time. The sequel, “Paranormal Activity 2”, made $177.5 million, while the second sequel was the most successful, making over $207 million! This is partly why Featherstone’s net worth is: estimated around $500,000.

Physical Characteristics

Featherston is considered by many to be a beautiful woman, with striking blue eyes and brown hair. She is 1.67 m tall and weighs about 67 kg.
