LOS ANGELES (AP) – Two people were killed and at least five others were injured after gunshots broke out Sunday in a Los Angeles park where an auto show was being held.
LA police said the shooting happened around 3:50 p.m. in Peck Park in the San Pedro neighborhood of LA. The LAPD tweeted it was not an active shooting situation but gave no further information.
LAPD Capt. Kelly Muniz said at a news conference that the victims were reported to the baseball diamond. Police have not identified the victims.
“The original call came out with multiple shootings at the baseball diamond in Peck Park. As we speak here, this is an ongoing, active crime scene and we continue to clear the park for evidence and possible additional victims,” ​​Muniz said. “We don’t know exactly how many shooters we have at this point.”
The LA Fire Department said the incident took place at or near the auto show and at least three people suffered gunshot wounds and two were in critical condition. A total of seven people, four men and three women, were injured and taken to hospitals, the fire service said.
The police have not given a motive. No arrests have been made.
Peck Park is located about 20 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.
