oyal celebrations are indulging the nation in some time off, with bank holidays and plenty of jubilations planned this year.

Just last week our longest reigning monarch turned 96 years old and more celebrations await in the coming months.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June, marking her 70th year in service, will honour Her Majesty with an extended bank holiday week.

So what time off can we enjoy in 2022?

When is the next bank holiday?

An annual spring bank holiday fell on May 2.

But the second bank holiday in May has been shifted to form the four-day Jubilee weekend.

When is the Queen’s Jubilee bank holiday weekend?

The four-day Easter weekend is not the only lengthy bank holiday break nine-to-fivers get this year.

To draw out Jubilee festivities, an extra day has been added on Thursday June 2 – replacing the usual late May bank holiday.

A birthday parade, Trooping the Colour, will take place on the first day to kick off the royal ceremonies.

Friday June 3 will be the official national bank holiday this year, with a service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral.

The weekend will be rounded off with the Big Jubilee Lunch on Sunday June 5.

When are the bank holidays for the rest of the year?

·       Monday, May 2 – Early May bank holiday

·       Thursday, June 2 – Spring bank holiday

·       Friday, June 3 – Platinum Jubilee bank holiday

·       Monday, August 29 – Summer bank holiday

·       Monday, December 26 – Boxing Day

·       Tuesday, December 27 – Christmas Day (substitute day)
