R Truth was born on January 19, 1972 in South Carolina, USA, Ronnie Aaron Killings was born to his parents. R Truth grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, where his parents later moved. Truth excelled in both football and job while still in school. He enrolled at Harding University High School, where he and Ray Durham joined the soccer team. R Truth was approached by NWA wrestler Jack Crockett shortly after his release from prison in an attempt to persuade him to pursue a career in professional wrestling, but Truth was adamant about continuing in the music industry. He would later consider the offer after crying twice and contact Jack, who introduced him to wrestlers. He made his management debut with the Pro Wrestling Federation in 1997. He made his professional wrestling debut in 1999, under the ring name K-Krush, and in December of the same year, he won his first wrestling championship.
He was given a two-year development contract and was given the ring name K-Kwik after delivering promotional footage to the World Wrestling Federation. Then he went into battle. Before being promoted to the WWF’s main squad, he continued to compete against notable wrestlers such as Jerry Lawler, Joe Abs and Steve Bradley.
