Game of Thrones fans were outraged after what happened in the abysmal Season 8 finale. However, after the arrival of House of The Dragon, it seems safe to say that the fans and HBO have reconciled. The first season of the series ended with Vhagar killing Queen Rhaenyra’s son, Luke. Now fans are waiting for an impending sequel in House Of the Dragon Season 2,
Created by Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik, House of the Dragon is a prequel series to HBO’s groundbreaking fantasy drama Game Of Thrones. Set over a century before Daenerys’s birth, the series chronicles the Targaryen civil war that split the empire in two, dubbed the Dance Of The Dragons.
What can you expect from Season 2 of House Of The Dragon?
The plot of Season 2 of House of the Dragon should pick up where the first season ends, which is with conflict. The race for the Iron Throne has officially begun as Aegon and Rhaenyra announce their separate coronations as king and queen. The season should revolve around Rhaenyra and Daemon’s desire for revenge for Aemond’s actions in Storm’s End. Season 1 spent a lot of time drafting the screenplay, so Season 2 can finally begin with the Dance of the Dragons. To gain support, the warring factions will have to engage in further fighting and political planning, further dividing Westeros in half.
The Dance of the Dragons timeline has been shortened considerably, spanning just a few years. This is contrary to the Season 1 time frame, which spanned many decades. There will be fewer time jumps as a result, but there will still be plenty to cover, including treachery, scheming, killing, and dragons. With Jacaerys traveling to the Vale of Arryn and Winterfell, the second season of House of the Dragon will likely expand beyond King’s Landing and Dragonstone. It can further ensnare other characters and houses, showing just how drastically this divides Westeros’ Seven Kingdoms.
Will Laenor return to Westeros?
In the first season of the series, Laenor Velaryon escaped to Essos to live his life freely with his lover. However, the Civil War in Targaryen will see the character return. Aegon the Younger was saved from the Battle of the Esophagus by Laenor. This will happen if he makes a second appearance in Season 2 of House of the Dragon according to some speculation. Laenor could be Fire & Blood’s unidentified aristocratic friend to whom Jacaerys wanted to entrust his younger brothers in Essos. He aids his family in the Targaryen Civil War while maintaining their legitimacy by remaining in Essos and continuing to care for Rhaenyra and Daemon’s sons.
However, Laenor probably won’t be kept alive without being involved in some way that would bring him back. However, it is unlikely that he will play a prominent role on screen like Addams or Hull. Only a conversation with Rhaenyra and Daemon or an apparition to secretly assist the family would have any significance for Laenor’s return. While he may end up at sea or in Essos, Laenor is unlikely to make it to Westeros in House of the Dragon.
What happens to the dragon of Laenor?
The bond between a dragon and its rider lasts a lifetime. While there are many more book dragons, one standout is Laenor Velaryon’s dragon: Seasmoke. The dragon appeared several times during the season and proved devastating in battle against the Crabfeeder. With Laenor alive and banished, Seasmoke shouldn’t be able to claim another rider. Still, Daemon counted Seasmoke among the dragons of Dragonstone. It’s a strange decision, considering Seasmoke can’t be ridden again until Laenor dies. Meanwhile, fans hope that House Of The Dragon season 2 explains it in detail.
