Happy fans! It’s only been ten months since BBC One revealed the future of Time. Time Season 2 is on the cards. You read it right indeed. The series returns for a possible second season with a twist. All the main characters of the series will not return for the second season. It can be hard to digest for the avid fans of the series. But you’d be surprised what the creators are up to for Time season 2.
Time, created by Jimmy McGovern, is a crime drama series centered around the newly imprisoned Mark Cobden. After being found guilty of his crime, he was left in the volatile world of prison. There he meets Eric McNally, a dedicated prison guard who does a great job protecting those in his care. But when a dangerous prisoner discovers his weakness, Eric must choose between his family and his principles.
Time Season 2: Renewed!
Indeed! BBC has announced that Time is returning for the second season. The news came as part of the revamp of three other shows, including Vigil, The Responder and The Tourist. Well, the series has won a lot of hearts for its epic portrayal of the relationship between an inmate and a prison guard. The series also received an 8.3/10 positive response on IMDb, while receiving a 100% positive response on Rotten Tomatoes. So it’s no surprise that the network is rooting for the show and returning with Time season 2.
Who will be in the cast?
Although Time Season 2 is green-lit, the main cast members of the series are not returning this time. BBC announced that the second season would welcome new cast members as it will be set in an all-female prison. So it is quite a challenge to expect who might return. But soon the network will be announcing the list of cast members, so let’s wait until then. Aside from the series’ cast, writer Jimmy McGovern returns to write the second run. He will write one-hour episodes of Time season 2.
Has production started?
As of now, Time is only green-lit for the second season. But soon it will go into production. There is speculation that the second season is currently in early development. Therefore, we expect the second run to go into production sometime in the summer of 2022. It will take nearly six to seven months to complete production. Meanwhile, the post-production phase won’t take much time to wrap up Time Season 2.
Time Season 2: What Happens Next?
As previously mentioned, Sean Bean and Stephen Graham are not returning for the second season. In fact, the series will revolve around a new storyline. It will take place in an all-female prison. At the moment nothing is known about the second season. But we can expect that the second season will perhaps follow a prison drama and a power struggle. It could also be about the gang war between the prisoners.
Time Season 2: Release Date
It remains unclear at this point. However, the series has already been renewed. So it will come back to your screen soon. But if Time Season 2 goes into production in the summer of 2022, it won’t take much time to finish production. So we expect the show to return soon. It may return next year.
