Power Book II: Ghost Season 2 Summary
Season 2 of Ghost focused on the suspects in the murder of Professor Jabari Reynolds! We meet Mecca, a ruthless drug lord who adopts Cane. Councilor Rashad Tate had ambitions to return to politics after his defeat and sought the seat of Congressman Rick Sweeney. However, the plan prompted him to work alongside Professor Carrie as an assistant professor at Stansfield.
Monet wanted to keep her family out of the drug trade and focused their efforts on supporting Zeke’s professional basketball career. Kevin Whitman was charged with the murder of Prof. Reynolds, which led him to someone at Stansfield!
Tariq was juggling school, his little sister Yasmine was placed in foster care, tried to contact his witness protection mother, ran a drug business on campus, and ended up raising money for his own defense.
Cane’s ambitions grew stronger while his father, Lorenzo, was imprisoned and he stole and traded the family’s drug stash. They relied on him for replenishment. Whitman was previously attracted to Carrie and began to suspect her in the murder case. Still, something she said caught the officer’s attention to Zeke. When questioned, the ballplayer revealed his connection to Detective Ramirez and elevated him to the position of prime suspect!
Cane was annoyed that his mother insisted that Tariq be present during their surgery. He concluded that Riq’s vulnerability lay with Brayden. Thus the snake lured the white boy into its clutches, intending to accidentally use him against Tariq. However, Riq needs legitimate documentation to gain custody of Yasmine, so he formed a shell company and named Brayden president.
To allay Zeke’s doubts, Tariq tried to sow the idea that the NYPD was covering up Jabari’s murder, claiming that Det. Ramirez’ gun was used in the crime! Zeke’s defense fund was $1 million, and Dante/Mecca ultimately paid it on Monet’s behalf, despite his desire for her and his decision to abandon her imprisoned husband. We found out that Zeke was Monet’s son, not her cousin… Mecca was his paternal grandfather.
Zeke was eliminated as a suspect after Detective Ramirez’s revolver was discovered in Tariq’s dorm room (thanks to Cane for putting it in!). Tariq was imprisoned on suspicion of murder and his father Ghost left him a damning letter in jail in case he was arrested. Riq was eventually released on bail and continued to fight the charges while attending school and making plans. Lorenzo was also released from prison, exposing Monet’s escape preparations to a major problem.
Mecca (or Dante Spears, as Monet called him) grew impatient and approached Zeke, who claimed to be his father. Monet lied to Zeke, but Diana discovered the truth and revealed the secrets of the whole family!
Tariq’s investigation took an unexpected turn when he discovered Lauren was carrying a telegram that may have involved Brayden, Cane, and himself. Riq persuaded Carrie to testify to protect Lauren. Davis publicly humiliated her. Later that night, after talking to Monet, Carrie hanged herself!
Tariq had a nightmare where he discovered who he had killed. Fans were hoping for a Ghost cameo, but it never showed. Hopefully in the third season of Ghost?!
Monet recognized Dante for who he was and hatched a plan to kill him in the final episode after realizing he was Mecca. Brayden helped dismiss Tariq’s trial. Tariq managed to release Yasmine from foster care and reunite her with Tasha (who finally appeared in the second season). Riq promised that once he had the money and the power, he would reconcile with his family…
Monet ended up killing Mecca (who turned out to be a federal confidential informant). Tariq has been named as a suspect in another murder as a result of his visit to the spot. Lorenzo thought he was preventing Mecca from taking off on a private plane when he fatally shot Zeke! Monet receives a phone call informing her of her son’s passing, which brings us to the story of the third season…
Power Book II: Ghost’: Season 3 Storyline:
Monet is sure to find out that her husband Lorenzo Tejada (Berto Colon) killed her son Zeke in a case of misidentification after the spectacular conclusion of season two.
After escaping with the death of Professor Jabari Reynolds (Justin McManus), Tariq, who initially wanted to leave the drug game, has chosen to stay and serve as a new link now that Mecca is no longer a factor. On the other hand, Brayden, who saved Tariq from a life in prison by confessing to being the student selling drugs on campus and identifying himself as the CEO of their drug-peddling app, Course Correct, betrayed him. by starting Tariq’s college friend Lauren, whose body was discovered after a car accident.
In the conclusion, it was revealed that Detective Blanca Rodriguez (Monique Gabriela Curnen) was the officer assigned to secretive informant Mecca. Blanca’s return, with a blurry image of Tariq, is sure to cause major trouble for Tariq as she investigates Mecca’s shooting.
Season three is also about to intensify, with Cooper Saxe teaming up with prosecutor Jenny Sullivan (Paton Ashbrook) to expose Davis MacLean’s dubious legal representation. While MacLean tries to release his brother Theo Rollins for a murder he didn’t commit.
