Shantaram, Apple TV+s final drama series, premieres Friday, October 14, 2022 at 12:01 p.m. ET. The series is based on the book of the same name by Gregory David Roberts. It is about a bank robber who flees Australia and ends up in Bombay in the 1980s.

Shantaram: trailer, plot and additional information

On September 14, 2022, Apple TV released the show’s official teaser, which gives a glimpse into the turbulent life of the main character Lin, played by Charlie Hunnam. It briefly mentions his various trials and difficulties after his migration to India. Overall, the trailer maintains raw suspense the whole time and does a good job of portraying Bombay’s attitude from the 80s. Viewers can also see the many individuals Lin meets after arriving in India and how they affect his life. According to Apple TV+ Press, the official program summary is as follows:

“Shantaram”, based on the best-selling book by Gregory David Roberts worldwide, depicts a fugitive named Lin Ford (Charlie Hunnam) trying to get lost in the bright and chaotic Bombay of the 1980s.”

The summary continues:

“Alone in a strange city, Lin tries to escape the difficulties he is trying to avoid in this new area. Lin must choose between freedom and love and the complexity that comes with it after falling for an enigmatic and seductive lady named Karla.

Based on the description and trailer, fans can expect a fascinating action-drama series with several spectacular story twists and captivating characters. Fans of gangster dramas like The Sopranos, The Wire and Breaking Bad will love Shantaram, which promises to mix action with drama.

The program will premiere with three episodes on October 14, 2022 and will follow the normal weekly release structure thereafter, with a new episode every Friday. The first season consists of 12 episodes of approximately one hour each.

Lin, played by Charlie Hunnam, is the main character of Shantaram. In the clip, he seems promising and amazing, effortlessly conveying the tension, turmoil, and craziness that surround his character. The actor is expected to deliver an outstanding performance.
