Sheryl Sandberg married Tom Bernthal on Saturday in Wyoming. After three years of dating, the philanthropist married the founder and former CEO of Kelton Global. Sheryl Sandberg made the news public on her Instagram account by posting a photo of the newlywed couple. The caption of the photo says “married.”

Who is Sheryl Sandberg’s husband, Tom Bernthal?

After Sheryl married Bernthal on Saturday, the public began to wonder about her husband, Tom. Bernthal is the founder and former CEO of Kelton Global, a strategic consulting firm based in Los Angeles. Before joining Kelton in 2002, he worked as a national producer for NBC News. He worked for the media company from 1996 to 2002, winning three Emmy awards during that time. He has contributed to Today, Nightly News, and Deadline throughout his journalism career, as well as the MSNBC and CNBC networks.

Born in Washington, his father was an attorney at Latham & Watkins LLP and currently serves on the board of directors of the US Humane Society. In addition, he has two brothers, Jon and Nicholas. While Jon is an actor best known for his portrayal of the Punisher, Nicholas is an orthopedic surgeon and UCLA professor.

How did Sheryl Sandberg and Tom Bernthal meet?

Sheryl, 52, and Tom, 50, were previously married to divorcees. While Sheryl’s husband, Dave, died suddenly of a heart attack, Tom had long been divorced. However, it was Rob Goldberg, the brother of Sheryl’s late husband, who arranged the meeting and helped Tom and Sheryl make contact. Rob once told a reporter that he knew Bernthal as a personal friend and former NBC News Producer. He also said he was aware that Tom was looking for someone to build a life with after his divorce.

In addition, he stated:

“They both came out of difficult moments in their lives, still happy and eager to improve their lives and that of their children.”

In fact, in 2021, when announcing the beneficiaries of the Dave Goldberg Scholarship, a program created by the family in Dave’s honor, Bernthal reflected on his friendship with Sheryl’s late husband, saying:

“As one of the fortunate few who knew Dave personally, I have now experienced directly how this program exemplifies his ethos to give people every opportunity to work hard and achieve everything possible for themselves.”

Sheryl Sandberg

Sandberg, who will step down as Meta’s COO in September, previously said she couldn’t imagine dating again, much just to get married. Tom said the same thing in a recent Instagram post announcing his marriage to Sheryl Sandberg.

He shared the photo and said:

“After we both went through loss, Sheryl and I weren’t sure if we would ever find love again.” We have integrated our lives and families for the past three years. Today’s wedding was a dream come true.”

Sheryl, who has a daughter and a son, and Tom, who has three children, announced to everyone that “we’re all getting married.” In lieu of wedding gifts, the couple asked the guests to give VOW and CARE, two organizations that support anti-child marriage and poverty alleviation activities.
