hold that SpiceJet Ltd failed a safe air service due to a deterioration of the safety margin due to several incidents since April 1, the regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has issued a communication on the cause of the show to the airline

Tweeting about the cause of the show, Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M Scindia said: “The safety of the passengers is paramount. Even the smallest error that hinders safety will be thoroughly investigated and corrected”.

Referring to several cases of SpiceJet’s aircraft returning to the original station or landing at the destination with a deteriorated safety margin, the DGCA said in its report that these are due to “poor internal safety oversight and inadequate maintenance actions”.

The Indian aviation sector regulator said according to the financial assessment it conducted in September 2021: SpiceJet has used a ‘cash and carry system’ by its suppliers as they were not paid on a regular basis, leading to a shortage of spare parts.

It has given SpiceJet three weeks to answer why no action should be taken against it.
