According to Sterlite Technologies, telecom operators should look at fiber optics with a futuristic lens.
The company said tower fiber needs to increase from about 35 percent to 80 percent to provide high-quality 5G services.
In addition, 5G requires up to 4x small cells, backhauled with fibers, Sterlite Technologies said.
The company said fiber space in India is limited by the speed and scale of deployment.
5G Cosmos is an Atmanirbhar patented solution that can solve these challenges and connect every tower, small cell and node, the company claimed.

Ankit Agarwal Manaing Director, Sterlite Technologies said: “Indian telecom operators are ready to install fiber dense networks for 5G. This requires an integrated and futuristic solution. We built 5G Cosmos to enable fiber optication of macro and small cells at scale and to achieve the full potential of 5G.”
