  • Swiggy announced that it is changing the terms and conditions of its One membership.
  • Swiggy One users can only use the account on two devices at a time.
  • The changes will take effect on February 6, 2023.

Food delivery platform Swiggy is the latest company to crack down on password sharing, following Netflix, which recently announced its password sharing policy. The new password sharing policy will go into effect on February 6, 2023.

Swiggy has started to notify Swiggy One subscribers and inform them that it is changing Swiggy One’s terms and conditions. This means that the current changes only apply to Swiggy One subscribers for now.

Swiggy One is the company’s premium subscription service that offers benefits such as free delivery, additional discounts, and more. The company currently offers two plans: a quarterly plan and an annual plan. As part of Swiggy One, users get free delivery on food orders over ₹149, Instamart orders over ₹199 and up to 30% off food and dining.

Swiggy charges different prices for its One membership to different usershttps://londonbusinessblog.com/ India

Interestingly, the prices for its plans are different for different users, while offering the same benefits. Users who renew their membership pay significantly more than new users.

“We will soon update our terms and conditions. As per this update, starting February 6, Swiggy One members will be able to log in on up to two devices at once,” Swiggy said in a notification to users.

Changes aimed at reducing “abuse”

Swiggy has claimed that it is making the changes to prevent instances of “misuse” of the Swiggy One Membership. The company has said membership is for “personal use” and its password-sharing policies are aimed at reducing misuse.

“The Swiggy One membership is for personal use. By implementing this change, the number of cases of abuse will decrease. This ensures that we can serve our members in the most optimal way, while still maintaining fair use within reasonable limits,” the company added.

Swiggy also added that this change is necessary to ensure membership remains affordable for users and sustainable for the company.

“This change ensures we continue to make membership affordable for all customers and sustainable for Swiggy,” the company added.

Currently, there is no limit on the number of devices that can be logged in with one account, and users often buy a membership on one account and share it with their friends and relatives.
