The eighth son? “That can not be true!in other words The 8th son? Are you joking? is a fun action fantasy anime like his name. The original title is “Hachinan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou!”. It is an adaptation of a manga written by Japanese manga writer YA and illustrated by Fuzichoco. The crunchy rolls licensed anime was originally launched on Tokyo MX, BS11, AT-X local Japanese channels. A total of 12 episodes aired between April 2, 2020 – June 18, 2020. While the anime will not air on global platforms such as Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu TV, it has managed to find viewers from all over the world. The second season of the anime, prepared by Shin-Ei Animation, which has been successful in the anime industry since the 1970s, is curious. Has Crunchyroll renewed the series for a second season† londonbusinessblog it be released?

What was the storyline of ‘The Eighth Son? That can not be true!’?

Shingo Ichinomiya, 25, who works for a corporate foundation, goes to bed dreaming of a full day at work tomorrow. But when he wakes up, Shingo finds himself in an unfamiliar room, realizing that he is inside the body of a 6-year-old boy, who he realizes is taking control of his body with his mind. Shingo soon learns from the boy’s memories that he is the youngest son of a poor noble family living in the countryside. Lacking administrative talent, he can do nothing to manage his family’s vast territory.

Fortunately, he has magic, which is a very rare ability. Unfortunately, although his talent could bring wealth to his family, in his case it only brought disaster. The story of this boy named Wendelin Von Benno Baumeister, who opens his own way in a cruel world.

Although it has a story that we are used to from anime, the plot and story are considered successful. We think that in the possible second season of the series, the focus will be on the missing character development.

Will there be a second season of the anime?

Neither the studio nor Crunchyroll renewed the series for a second season. There is also no notice of cancellation yet. But is there a chance the series will be renewed? We will evaluate if the series will get a second season with some parameters. Chief among these are manga status and popularity.

Manga Status (YA light novel)

As we mentioned earlier, the series is an adaptation of Light Novel. The light novel, written by YA, was published in April 2014. The good news is that it continues to this day. A total of 20 volumes have been published for the light novel. The latest installment was released in July 2020. Manga Compared to Anime: Anime only includes five volumes of Manga. It stopped in the middle of the fifth movement. This means there is plenty of source material for a second season or more.

The other factors:

While the manga has plenty of resources for a second season, the series’ popularity is affecting the second season’s chances. From this point of view, unfortunately, the series did not achieve the desired success. User reactions on social media also say that the series is similar to many anime and offers nothing else. The animation studio was last able to continue with a second season for the anime “Teasing Master Takagi-san” in 2018. Kâito jôkâ, one of the Crunchyroll licensed anime, was published in 2014 and continued its broadcast life for more than a season. But the 8th son? Are you joking? will not be. The anime’s ratings are meager and they have a below average rating on IMDb and Myanimelist.

March comes in like a lion season 3

The anime studio has already made some new anime plans for 2021, but “The 8th Son? Are you kidding?” the second season is not featured in these plans. Next plans from the anime studios:

  • idols! (202)
  • Mashiro no Oto (2021)

When is the anime release date?

When all possibilities are evaluated, it turns out that although the manga has plenty of resources, the popularity of the series is below average, and the studio has generally made one-season series in its previous works. It is highly unlikely that the series will get a second season. But if Crunchyroll surprises and refreshes the series for a second season, we could see the new season of the series in mid-2021.
