What happened in House Of The Dragon Episode 8?
The eighth episode of House of the Dragon was titled ‘Lord Of The Tides’. The title refers to the lord of Driftmark Castle. In the beginning, we learn that the Sea Serpent was seriously injured during the battle at the StepStone. There’s a chance he won’t survive. As a result, his brother, Vaemond Velaryon, lays claim to the Driftmark because he believes Rhaenyra’s sons are illegitimate.
Vaemond argues for his claim to the Driftmark for the crown. After learning that her son’s claim to Drfitmark has been challenged, Daemon and Rhaenyra head for the capital. In King’s Landing, fans see that King Viserys’ health has deteriorated. He cannot run the court. This is how Otto Hightower makes decisions on his behalf. Vaemond offered his allegiance to the Greens in exchange for getting Driftmark, and Otto seemed quite confident in the trade.
However, to everyone’s surprise, an ailing King Viserys goes to court to settle the matter for himself. Meanwhile, Corlys Velaryon’s wife, Rhaenys, sided with the Rhaenyra, and the Driftmark castle is given to Lucerys Velaryon. As a result, Vaemond loses his temper and calls Princess’s sons bastards, resulting in Daemon beheading him.
Later, Viserys organizes a supper for his entire family as a last-ditch effort to mend their differences. Everything seemed to be going well at the party, until Aemon made a snappy remark about the ‘Strong’ boys arguing between the relatives. Meanwhile, the episode ended with a stunning twist when Alicent misunderstood Viseyrs while talking about Aegon the Conqueror.
