Lisa Kelly has one of the most unusual sources of fame in the celebrity world. Lisa became famous for her performance as a truck driver in “Ice Road Truckers” on the History channel, and her popularity paved the way for appearances in multiple other shows and spin-offs. Lisa Kelly may have always been a tomboy, but trucking wasn’t her first choice – before she started hauling huge loads across the country, Kelly was a motocross champion.

Early life and family
Lisa Kelly was born on December 8, 1980, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA – there isn’t much information about her family and her siblings, if she has any.
When she was six, her family moved to the colder climate of Sterling, Alaska, where they lived on a small farm. While she never said that explicitly, it makes sense to conclude that she was an extremely athletic kid. Lisa Kelly still enjoys many of those activities – horseback riding, motocross, skydiving, hang gliding and snowboarding.
Kelly went to school in Alaska, but then decided to move back to Great Rapids to attend Cornerstone University. It wasn’t long before she realized she wasn’t meant for conventional study, and dropped out of college after just one semester.
Lisa Kelly started her career in strange jobs, such as driving school buses and delivery vans, and a while at a pizzeria. While this may have been the most unfavorable time in her career, she was able to pursue other interests and even become the state motocross champion. After earning her CDL (Commercial Driver’s License), she decided to pursue a career that allowed her to express her love for trucks.
“Ice Cream Truck Drivers”
The risky nature of hauling heavy loads on the frozen Alaskan roads and the fact that she was one of the few women in her job brought her to the attention of the History Channel directors. Lisa Kelly was slated to make her first appearance in 2007 in the show’s third season, then also in seasons four, five and seven, taking a break during the sixth season. She worked with Darrel Ward for a while, but he was tragically killed in a plane crash on August 28, 2016.
While trucking doesn’t seem to be the most illustrious profession, it can be life-threatening and require quick reflexes. Kelly once had to jump out of her 22-wheeler when the ice began to crack under the wheels of her truck.
Her prowess on the road earned her a position on “IRT: Deadliest Roads,” a spin-off from 2010 to 2011, on which she drove hair-raising routes around the world. Her fame in the trucking community made her the ideal choice to be the brand ambassador for Delo, an affiliate of Chevron Products Co. for whom she had worked for three years, wherever they wanted to send her. Delo produced a line of heavy motor oil.
Lisa and Traves Kelly
Lisa Kelly met her future husband in 2004; a fellow bike enthusiast and motorcycle mechanic, they met when Kelly bought a Kawasaki 125; the two married in 2008 after four years of dating. Traves Kelly is an Aleut Native Alaskan who has now transitioned from motorcycles to plumbing. Lisa often talks about how grateful she is to her husband. While working as a truck driver, Lisa Kelly was forced to work from home for months at a time, but the two apparently remain happily married – they have no children.
Hobbies and pets
While Kelly is childless, she and her husband have a whole menagerie of pets. Kelly is an avid equestrian and has three horses, including a miniature named Rocky. She also has a cat named Tanzi. While still on the set of “Ice Road Truckers,” she adopted a puppy to keep her company on the road, naming him Rampur Jackson, but giving it to the producers as soon as she finished filming. While this may seem surprising, the puppy was mainly cared for by her Indian helper, Tashi.
Kelly has also been able to fulfill many of her dreams and even got the chance to fly in a jet fighter with the US Navy Blue Angels Display Team. She still chases the adrenaline rush she finds on the road, outside of work, and likes hang gliding and skydiving, snowboarding and horseback riding.
Although Lisa Kelly is known to say that the road is not a place to maintain a healthy lifestyle, she still manages to maintain a fit and slim figure.
Lisa is 1.70 m tall and weighs 58 kg. She has blond hair and brown hair and couldn’t be more different from the others in the male dominated trucking industry.
Net worth and salary
Lisa Kelly has an estimated net worth of over $500,000. While she used to receive income from both her trucking and her performance in “Ice Road Truckers,” she retired from the show in 2017 and spends less time on the road to cultivate a healthier lifestyle. She is believed to live on her husband’s income and what she still earns as a truck driver.
