Who is Victoria De Angelis?
Italian bassist Victoria De Angelis was born in Rome, Italy, on April 28, 2000, so Taurus is her zodiac sign. She is perhaps best known for being a co-founder of the popular Italian rock and roll band Måneskin, which was formed in 2015 when she was only 15 years old, while the other members are Ethan Torchio, Thomas Raggi and Damiano David; in 2021 the band won the Sanremo Music Festival and then the Eurovision Song Contest with their song “Zitti e Buoni”.
Education and early life
Victoria and her younger sister were raised in Rome by their Italian father and Danish mother; she has not shared much about her parents but it is known that her mother passed away from cancer in 2015.
Victoria fell in love with music at the age of eight, especially with rock and roll, as her parents listened to it almost every day at home. It was also at the age of eight that Victoria started taking guitar lessons, while she was 13 when she started playing bass. She was scheduled to enroll in high school in 2014, but suffered panic attacks and had to take a year off; Victoria went on to study at Scuola Media Gianicolo, where she met her fellow Måneskin members, and she enrolled at Liceo Classico Virgilio in 2019.
She then focused on music, rather than pursuing a college degree.
Her band Måneskin
After meeting at school, Victoria, Thomas and Damiano started looking for a drummer on Facebook, and Ethan Torchio from the nearby town of Frosinone applied; although they started performing in 2015, they didn’t choose Måneskin as their band name until the following year, as they had to have a name when they applied to compete in local competition The Pulse. It was Victoria who came up with the name, as she is half Danish and her bandmates wanted a Danish name for the band – Måneskin, meaning ‘Moonlight’. They won The Pulse and attracted even more attention when they started performing on the streets of Rome, particularly in the Colli Portuensi district.
Their first live concert was in the nearby town of Faenza, while they subsequently performed at various venues in Denmark.
In 2017, Måneskin took part in the 11th season of the Italian talent show “X Factor”, losing out to Italian singer Lorenzo Licitra in the final; their original song they performed on the show titled “Chosen” was released on November 24, 2017 and peaked at #2 on Italy’s Ferezione Industria Musicale Italiana (FIMI) Singles Chart. Their eponymous extended play (EP) was released in December 2017 and was certified double platinum by FIMI.
Their first Italian-language song, “Moriro Da Re”, was released on March 23, 2018, while their debut album “Il Ballo Della Vitta” followed on October 26 of the same year; the lead single “Torna a Casa” topped the charts in Italy. The band then released the documentary about themselves “This is Måneskin”, as a way to promote the album.
Their fourth single, “Fear for Nobody”, was released in January 2019, and was followed by their fifth “L’altra Dimensione” in April, and then the single “Le Parole Lontane” in September, certified platinum, and peaked at # 5 on the FIMI Singles Chart.
Måneskin embarked on their first international tour in 2018 and 2019, with over 70 sold-out dates.
From 2019 through 2020, they lived in London, England and recorded new music there; their seventh single “Vent’anni” was released in October 2020, and it was on March 6, 2021 that they won the Sanremo Music Festival with their song “Zitti e Buoni”. Just two weeks later their second album “Teatro d’ira Vol. I” was released.
After winning Sanremo, Måneskin earned the right to represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the same song; they won by scoring 524 points, marking Italy’s third Eurovision win after Gigliola’s win in 1964 and Toto Cutugno’s win in 1990. For the rest of the year, Måneskin toured Europe, with them going on tour in 2022 in Japan and the US.
Their 11th single “Supermodel” was released on May 13, 2022 and was followed by their 12th “The Loneliest” on October 7. Their third album “Rush!” came out on January 20, 2023 and it has recently been revealed that Måneskin will be performing at Glastonbury Festival in 2023.

The band launched their YouTube channel, “Måneskin Official”, on January 9, 2017, and today it has almost 4.5 million subscribers, while all of their videos combined have been viewed almost 1.7 billion times. Victoria avoids talking about her love life in interviews, but it is known that she was in a relationship with Smosi9, an Italian musician who has not yet received recognition, and is currently focused on releasing music on his SoundCloud; he is followed by nearly 3,000 people on Instagram.
Victoria’s romantically linked today to her bandmate Damiano David, who has become very popular on the internet after their Eurovision victory; he is followed by more than 5.2 million people on Instagram and has uploaded more than 250 photos and videos to the social media network, most of them featuring performances by him. It is widely believed that Victoria and Damiano have been together for almost two years now, but this has not been confirmed.
She has been in a relationship with Damiano David since March 2023, is not married and has no children.
