Who is Simon Cowell?

British businessman, record executive and TV personality, Simon Phillip Cowellwas born on October 7, 1959 in Lambeth, London England.

He attended Windsor Technical College, but was not a great student. However, he is the founder, director and chief executive of Syco, a British entertainment company. He became popular in the 80s and 90s as a talent scout, record producer and consultant to the music industry. In 2001, Simon and Simon Fuller pitched “Pop Idol” for ITV’s Controller of Entertainment, Claudia Rosencrantz. Simon Fuller was the creator of the show and Simon Cowell became the first official judge on the panel.

Buoyed by the success of “Pop Idol”, he created “The X Factor” in 2004 and “Got Talent” in 2006, both of which are hugely popular and have been sold worldwide.

Time magazine called Simon ‘one of the 100 most influential people in the world’ in 2004, and again in 2010, and was ranked sixth in The Daily Telegraph’s 2008 list of the ‘100 most powerful people in British culture’, and received later that year he won the Special Recognition Award at the National Television Awards. He won the BAFTA Special Award for his ‘new talent development’ and ‘outstanding contribution to the entertainment industry’ at the 2010 British Academy Television Awards. In the television category, he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2018.

Simon is best known for being the “mean” judge, as he often insults and laughs at the contestants’ poor auditions – his comments are known for being “blunt” and “controversial.”

Simon Cowell

Well versed in both the music and television industries, Simon shares his knowledge with the winners of the shows, and has promoted and produced albums and singles for the artists who have won or been part of the shows, and were supported by the viewers. Artists he has signed include Noah Cyrus, Little Mix, Susan Boyle, One Direction and Labyrinth. In 2010, he got engaged to Mezhgan Hussainy, but they broke up in 2011 – Simon later said their engagement was “a big mistake”. While still together, they were seen vacationing with Lauren and Andrew Silverman.

Before his relationship with Lauren, Simon claimed he didn’t want kids – “God, no. I couldn’t have children.

If I had them drawn on the walls here, I’d go crazy.’ His mind changed quickly after the birth of his son, Eric. He has said that Eric and Lauren have brought so much positivity into his life that they have helped him out of his depression and made his life more normal. In interviews, he often talks about his son and the changes he made in his life. As of May 2019, Simon’s net worth is estimated at £385 million, which is over $450 million.

Career

Lauren is a socialite.

Private life

In their early twenties, Lauren met Andrew Silverman through a mutual friend.

The socialite was reportedly in love with the banker and property developer, and luckily he felt the same. The couple married in New York in 2005 in a royal wedding ceremony and in 2006 Lauren gave birth to their son Adam. Sources close to the couple claim that their marriage was soon on the rocks due to Andrew’s work schedule, which included long office hours, traveling and staying away from home and his family.

Lauren met Simon Cowell through her husband, since they were long-time friends, in 2006 while vacationing at the Sandy Lane resort of Barbados. Her affair with Simon only became public knowledge when they announced she was 10 weeks pregnant with his baby – they’d been dating for a year before she got pregnant. The affair came as a huge shock to Andrew, who felt extremely betrayed by both his wife and his best friend.

Andrew was under the impression that their frequent vacations together were due to their close friendship.

According to their divorce papers, Lauren and Andrew decided to split up because of her affair with Simon, but Lauren’s father released a statement via the DailyMail, blaming Andrew for the affair. According to her father, Andrew was a “cold and carefree” husband who left his wife for months to go on a business trip. He went on to say that Andrew couldn’t just keep throwing money at her, “…she couldn’t cuddle up with Gucci handbags and credit cards at night.” During their public divorce, her ex-husband tried his best to stay out of the limelight as he considers himself a “normal” person and is not interested in appearing in the media.

He spent his time focusing on his son, but in March 2014, he made a statement to the New York Observer, asking for respect and privacy during such a challenging period in his life. He also said that while the experience taught him a lot, he wanted to move on and focus on his son, his job and a healthy life for both of them.

Andrew’s business partner and brother, Alex, spoke out against Lauren in an interview with The New York Post, blaming her for the affair, saying she cannot be “turned into a golden child” and has “very bad roots.” Lauren and Andrew share physical and legal custody of Adam. In August 2013, Lauren released a statement regarding her relationship and separation from Andrew Silverman: “I am determined to make things as amicable as possible with Andrew, to ensure the well-being of our son. I hope for some space and privacy to process this.’

Their divorce was finalized on December 4, 2013, but Lauren chose to keep Andrew’s last name.

Simon spoke to The Mirror and shared: “It’s not something I’m proud of or wanted to happen in terms of hurting anyone. It just happened.’ In 2019, there were rumors that Andrew and Simon were working past the affair and not seeing each other as enemies. After the divorce, Adam lived with his father in Manhattan, which allowed him to stay in his private school. Lauren and Simon own a property in New York City, so she can visit Adam and spend time with him every other week. On February 14, 2014, she gave birth to Simon’s first child and her second son, Eric Philip Cowell, who was named after Simon’s father.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Simon said that during the first year of Eric’s life, he didn’t think Eric liked him. “It does remind me of me when I was younger, because he knows how to fit it and how to get away with it.” Simon told the Daily Star that while he regretted the way their relationship started, he felt blessed to have Lauren and his son. Eric is absolutely incredible and so funny. It [being a father] is the best thing that ever happened to me.’ Contrary to how Simon felt before Eric’s birth, he has expressed his wish for more children so Eric can grow up with siblings. Lauren has also spoken out about the 17-year age difference between her and Simon, saying it doesn’t bother them or affect their love for each other.

Appearance

Lauren has brown eyes and dark brown hair. She is 1.65 m tall, weighs about 55 kg and her vital stats are 36-28-36.

Wealth and salary

As of early 2020, Lauren’s net worth is estimated at $10 million – how accumulated is unknown, but Lauren reportedly received a $2 million divorce payment from her ex-husband, Andrew Silverman. According to TMZ, Andrew Lauren pays $3,000 in child support every month.

Simon receives an annual salary of $95 million, parts of which he shares with Lauren, not to mention his total net worth estimated at over $450 million. After Eric’s birth, Simon bought Lauren a mansion worth more than $11 million.
